OBSERVE NATURE FROM A BLIND

Have you ever sat quietly and completely hidden in order to observe birds and other wildlife? Hunters sitting in a deer stand or a duck blind are quietly watching what’s going on around them while hidden. Wildlife photographers have long used blinds in order to get better photos. This can lead to some great National Geographic moments – when you witness something that is amazing and almost hard to believe that you were lucky enough to see it.

Purchase a ground pop-up blind that you can use on your urban or rural property in order to get to know your wildlife neighbors a little better without disturbing them. Some basic blinds are under $60 and the price goes up from there. Place the blind near a feeder, bird bath, edge of the woods, or another hotspot where birds and other wildlife frequent. If you’re really bold, setting up a blind near an animal carcass could be an exciting eye-opener as hungry scavengers come to feast. Pop-up blinds are collapsable, easy to set up, and waterproof. You won’t need much inside the blind except a stool, binoculars, camera, water bottle, a blanket if it’s cold outside, and some silence.
