WELCOME TO OWL SHACK

I’ve been making and selling Owl Shacks since the early 2000s.  Long before that, however, I built them for friends and family just for fun.  After 30 years as a professional biologist, I retired in early 2022 as State Ornithologist for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and now am excited to have more time to devote to making Owl Shacks.  Hopefully you’ve noticed that I’ve answered a lot of questions on our web site about owls and their needs.  Over the years I’ve been asked so many questions about a wide variety of bird-related topics.  In fact, I’ve hosted a live radio show about birds on National Public Radio’s Red River Radio since 2013 that is still going strong.  I am adding this blog section to the website in an effort to pass on some of this information to you – most of these blogs are original material that have been adapted from my radio show.  I hope you enjoy this new addition to our owlshack.com website.  And, of course, order your Owl Shack today HERE.
